Let's make Berimbaus

It's a sunny day in Southend on Sea, Essex.  Perfect for meeting up with our Permaculture guru Graham (Spiralseed) and Project 49 crew.  Today we are harvesting willow to make berimbaus.

A berimbau is a strung bow instrument used primarily in the art of Capoeira.  It is played to create a series of rhythms that lead the capoeira game and folkloric games.

This is just the start of a wonderful collaborate project.  Watch this space for progress.

Brazilarte was invited to help harvest some willow. It's similar to the wood we use, from Brazil, to make berimbau's, the principle instrument for Capoeira. We were joined by the Project 49 crew at a local community allotment, to help get the job done. www.brazilarte.org
