Zines are DIY publications. They can take the shape of magazines, booklets, or pamphlets, or a more unusual shape like a map or a poster.
What is distinctive about them is the ways they are DIY. They value the handmade, using what you have approach, doing things for yourself or together in community.

Berimbau - A story of how it came to be is a mythical story. A suggestion of what could have been. A sacred instrument in the Capoeira circle, the Berimbau draws from many indigenous cultures from around the world. There are similar instruments, played in similar ways, Capoeira has it’s way.
We follow our protagonist, Hunter, on a forage into the forest. what he finds there is not what he expects. In this moment he discovers a secret which changes his life forever.

Emma ’Sininha’ Gibbs De Oliveira has been practicing the art of Capoeira for 24 years. On this journey she has been fortunate to travel and meet with so many wonderful people. The memories that stick in her mind of these travels are the stories told.
Combining her love for storytelling and her artistic prowess Emma brings to the world her first comic book, Berimbau, a story of how it came to be. With a bold desire to inspire others through the vibrant cultural teaching of Capoeira, its music and colourful history, she has written a fantastical story about the sacred Berimbau.
